Opelousas – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Loyd Breaux on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Fr. Greg Simien will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Loyd, age 83, a resident of Opelousas, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 2022, at Opelousas General Health System with his loving family by his side.

I’d like the memory of me to be filled with joy and laughter, for my life was filled with and abundance of blessing.

Loyd was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Loyd enjoyed listing to music and dancing. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Loyd was self-employed at Citco Service Station for 14 years, St. Landry parish School Bus Driver for over 15 years, and later was employed with John Deer.

Loyd is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Fern Chapman Breaux, children, Chris Breaux (Nikki), and Pam Lanclos (Charles), grandchildren, Maygan Deville (Alex), Jason Lanclos, Sean Lanclos, and Christopher Breaux, greatgrand children, Abel Deville, Austin Deville, Sienna Breaux, Saylor Breaux, step grandchildren, Taylor Quebedeaux (Dorie) and Lane Quebedeaux (Betti), step great grandchildren, Caroline Quebedeaux, Kate Quebedeaux, Mason Quebedeaux.

Loyd is preceded by his parents, Walter and Uranie Noel Breaux, siblings, Robert, Bernice, Curly, Lucille, Leroy, Orci and Charles.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. On Wednesday January 12, 2022, the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

Pallbearers will be, Jason Lanclos, Sean Lanclos, Christopher Breaux, Alex Deville, Joshua Breaux and Harry Doucet.

Honorary pallbearers will be Adel Deville and Austin Deville.
