Bessie Boles

OPELOUSAS- A private funeral service was held for Bessie Marie Boles, Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Sibille Funeral Home in Grand Coteau/Sunset. She peacefully passed away on September 27, 2021 at Riverview Regional Medical center near her home in Carthage Tennessee.

Bessie was a well known private duty nurse, and took care of many elderly and bed ridden patients in her hometown of Opelousas, LA, and also in Tennessee. She cared for others and is fondly remembered for her compassion in doing so. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading and spending time with her family and friends. She was a self taught writer of poetry, and had a passion for singing and music. She was the sunshine on a cloudy day, and loved all of Gods creations, and enjoyed watching all animals of nature from the porch of her beloved country home. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, and the memories of anyone whose lives she touched with her love will live on forever.

Bessie is survived by her adoring companion of many years, Richard McClain, three daughters, Kim Stoot (Tom), Debbie Guidry (Joe), Crystal Sands (Nici), two sons, Tim Picard (Helena), Joseph Hargroder III, (Shirley), goddaughter, Cathy Lee Valencia, 21 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and 2 more to be born soon, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Bessie is preceded in death by her parents, Foster Mixon and Myrtle Nezat Mixon Pansano, one son, John Philip Picard, one daughter, Myrtle Marie Dupre, one granddaughter, Lillian Victoria Sands, one great nephew, Anthony Joel Valencia, six sisters, Marguerite Taylor, Gladys Ryder, Delores Comeaux, Gloria Lanclos, Judy Adams, Sharon Carline, and one brother, Foster Mixon Jr.

Special thanks to the medical staff at Riverview Regional Medical Center, including Jennifer, Amanda and charge nurse Joe, and everyone else who assisted in her care during her final days.
