Theresa Lavergne

Opelousas – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Theresa Irma Lavergne on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church of Grand Coteau.  Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.

Irma, a resident of Sunset, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at the age of 88, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Irma was a devout catholic and dedicated parishioner of St. Charles Catholic Church. She was very talented when it came to crafts. Irma made many beautiful pieces through sewing, crocheting and knitting. She also loved gardening and traveling with her husband after her retirement. Irma cherished time spent with her family, especially being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, William Lavergne (Annette) of Sunset and Charles Lavergne of Sunset; daughters, Theresa Clement (Mark) of Denham Springs, Ruth Viator of Sunset, Vicky Broussard (Bernard) of New Iberia, Joan Comeaux of Youngsville, Ashley Mowry (Patrick) of Covington and Lisa Comeaux (Patrick) of New Iberia; sister Marie St. Amand Hardy of Washington; 21 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “J.C” Lavergne; daughter, Jacqueline Lavergne Morrow;  parents, Charles and Louise Beaugh Ozanne,  brothers, J. A. Ozanne and Albert Ozanne, sister, Nora O. Touchet, and son -in-law, Neal Viator.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m. by Deacon Darrell Burleigh.

The family of Mrs. Irma would like to send a very special thanks to LA. Hospice & Palliative Care, and to Anna Miller and Charlene Guidry for the compassion and care they showed Mrs. Irma.
