Opelousas– A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held for Marlys Ann Wyble Thomasson. Visitation for all will be Monday, September 28, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. A Private Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington.

Marlys, age 82, a resident of Melville, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020.

Known to those who loved her as Wife, Mama, Granny, Aunt Marlys and Dear Friend. She will be deeply missed.

Marlys was blessed with a strong determination to persevere in whatever situation she was in. And did so with a smile and a positive attitude.

Family and friends were very important to her and she loved to “visit”. The grandchildren never lived too far away to go to a dance recital, ball game or just to spend time with.

Marlys was active in her church. Through the years she played the piano, sang, led music and taught Sunday school. She and Bill always welcomed the youth of the church to gather at their home.

And she was a great cook!

Marlys is survived by her two daughters, Leslie Thomasson Trahan (Glenn) of The Woodlands, Texas, Lisa Thomasson Jung (Thomas) of Melville, 4 grandchildren, Salena Trahan Mitchell (Christopher) of The Woodlands, Texas, Grant Trahan (Hollie Nelms) of Abbeville, Louisiana, Allison Trahan of Houston, Texas and Jon Jung of Melville, Louisiana, 4 great grandchildren, Lincoln Mitchell, Truett Mitchell, Bailey Trahan and Bennett Trahan.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Bill Thomasson, parents R. Leslie Wyble and Ethel Carroll Wyble, her brothers R. L. Wyble, Jr. (Dorothy) and Gordon Wyble.

Pallbearers will be, Glenn Trahan, Grant Trahan, Chris Mitchell, Brad Joffrion, Dallas Ardoin and Reed Michael Ardoin.

2 Timothy 4:7-8

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but to all who have longed for his appearing.
