Margaret Leger

Opelousas- A Funeral Service will be held for Margaret Evelyn Leger, September 1, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Brother Greg Gaspard will conduct the service. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Margaret, age 77, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2020. She was devout in her faith and loved God first; she enjoyed reading her bible and singing in church. She cherished spending time with her family and loved flowers.

She is survived by her husband, John Henry Leger of Opelousas; son, Travis Leger and wife, Brett Leger of Lewisburg, LA; daughter, Desiree Leger and husband, Chad Savoy of Opelousas; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Noel of Krotz Springs; brothers, Roger Dale Baker and wife, Becky Baker of Mount Ida, AR,  David Bowie of Montana, Jack Soape and wife, Brenda Soape of Prairie Ronde; sisters, Dorothy Porch of Texas, Janet Hatton of Krotz Springs, Debbie Keith of Hot Spring, AR, and Lynette Coates of Krotz Springs; grandchildren, Victoria Leger, Troy Leger, Heather Angelle, Jodie Noel, and Chasity Noel; and 7 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her sons, Aron Noel and Joseph Noel; father, Thomas Gordon Soape and step-mother, Patricia Soape; mother, Betty Evelyn Myers Baker and step-father, Delmer Baker; brothers, Paul Piekos, John Baker, Ronald Baker and Gary Don Baker; great nephew, Christopher Kilpatrick; niece, Christina Mackey; grandmother, Clara Margaret Myers and grandfather, John Elmo Myers.

Pallbearers will be Chad Savoy, Pate Leger, Cade Leger and Troy Leger.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.
