Port Barre- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Malcolm G. Meche on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Fr. Clint Trahan will officiate the mass. Rite of Committal will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Malcolm,85, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, May 25, 2020.
He was a member of the Port Barre High School Boosters Club and spent many years as a volunteer collecting at the gate for Port Barre High School sporting events. He was a banker for 48 years starting at Planter’s Bank then American Bank, and ended with St. Landry Bank where he later retired.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Stanford Meche of Port Barre; sons, Landry Meche of Denham Springs, Andrew Guidroz II of Arnaudville, and Marcus Guidroz and wife Kat of Port Barre; daughters, Gretchen LeBlanc and husband Kirt of Port Barre, Carla Gore of North Carolina, and Debbie Guillory and husband Jimmy of Grand Prairie; special cousin, Emile Landry, Jr. of Arnaudville; sister, JoAnne Meche Mallet of Leonville; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dudley and Hilda Meche; his first wife and mother of his children, Mary Margaret Spiess; daughter, Jennifer Meche LaCashio; and grandson, Lance LeBlanc.
Pallbearers will be Landry Meche, Andrew Guidroz II, James LeBlanc, Adam Norris, Alex Hedden, and Colby Hedden. Honorary pallbearer will be Emile Landry, Jr.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the rosary at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre.
