Lita Culotta

Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial for Lita Castille Culotta will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.

Lita, age 99, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at her home in Opelousas. She was born in Sunset, Louisiana, and was a lifelong resident of Opelousas. She previously worked as a salesperson at Howard Brothers for many years.  Being a very devout Catholic, she was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, a member of the Our Lady of Mercy Ladies Altar Society, and a previous member of the Bona Fidem Ladies Auxiliary.  As a pastime, she loved working in her yard.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Joseph L. Culotta, Jr. and wife, Anna Rose of Lafayette; two daughters, Mary Joan Soileau of Opelousas; and Gayle C. Babin of Opelousas; nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Joseph L. Culotta, Sr., her parents, Edward Castille and Coralie Mouton Castille; brothers, Elrick Castille and Wilbert Castille; sisters, Rena Guidry and Thelma Guidry; and sons-in-law, George Soileau and Gervis “BB” Babin.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Monday evening. The funeral home will reopen for visitation on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Culotta, David Culotta, Guy Soileau, Cole Smith, Landon Melancon, and Brennen Buckley.
