Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Linda Gail Sonnier Young at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Fr. Gregory Simien will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.

Mrs. Linda Young, age 64, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Oak Lane Nursing Home in Eunice surrounded by her loved ones.

Mrs. Linda Young enjoyed playing bingo and the slots at the casino. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Joseph Walter Young, Sr. of Church Point; sons, Mitchell Shane Olivier and wife, Sarah of Church Point, LA and Travis Moise Thibodeaux and wife, Kim of Church Point, LA; daughters, Michelle Lynn Olivier and husband, James Richie of Church Point, LA and Desiree Marie Leger and husband, Junior of Church Point; step- son, Joseph W. Young, Jr. of Basile; brothers, Johnny Sonnier and wife, Winnie, Roy Deranger and wife, Shirley, Toup Sonnier and wife, Pam; sister, Geraldine Fruge; 14 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ovia and Rose Marie Ozenne Sonnier; brothers, Kenneth Sonnier and Monty Sonnier; and sister, Joyce Dekerlegand.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 from 12:00 noon until 10:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. Deacon Dwayne Joubert will recite the rosary at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Todd Matthew Olivier and Hunter Shane Olivier; son-in-laws, Junior Leger and James Richie Olivier; Bralyn Bellard, B.J. Boudreaux, Casey Deranger and Kenneth Sonnier, Jr.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Lamm Hospice and nurse Heather Bellard for their excellent care and love showed to Mrs. Linda Young.
