Opelousas– A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Karen Sebastien Tweedel on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Fr. Neil Pettit will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
Karen, age 58, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Oschner Lafayette General Hospital surrounded by her family.
Karen was a devout catholic, she attended mass religiously and enjoyed going to her prayer groups. In her early years she enjoyed sewing, later she picked up creating and repairing jewelry. Karen was a natural caregiver and dedicated her career to caring for the elderly. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Karen is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Benoit and wife, Maegen; the father of her child, Joseph “Rodney” Tweedel; grandson, Axel Benoit; niece, Andrea Miller and husband, Andrew; great-niece & nephew, Victoria and Zachary Miller; nephew, Chris Daigle and wife, Beth; great-niece & nephew, Chloe and Corbin Daigle.
Karen is preceded in death by her grandson, Xander Benoit; parents, J.L. and June Sebastien; sister, Liz Sebastien Potier.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited by her godmother, Norma Hargroder at 6:00 p.m. Friday evening. The funeral home will reopen on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
