James Carlin

Opelousas– A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for James Kenneth Carlin on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 1 PM in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church of Opelousas. Fr. Greg Simien will Celebrate the Mass.  Interment will take place at a later date.

James passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022, at the age of 81.

He was the third son born to parents Ethel and Luke Carlin. He attended school in Opelousas were he was the local news paper boy. At the age of 18 he joined the US Navy and served in Vietnam. He returned home and perused careers as a furniture salesman and a car dealer. Regardless of his successful careers he always said that being a father was his greatest accomplishment. Aside for the love of his children, he had an ongoing love affair with cars. This consistently brought him happiness.
He lived a full life and let his children know ever chance he got. He is at peace. He will be loved and missed by many.

James is survived by his son, Michael Kenneth Carlin, and his wife Megan of Buffalo, New York, daughter, Dana Carlin Stanford and her husband Dustin of Sunset, grandchildren, Luke Bradley and Owen Paul Stanford.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Ethel Carlin, son, Brad James Carlin, brothers, Gilford and Burton Carlin.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 12 Noon Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.
