Hilton Doucet

LAWTELL– A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Hilton Joseph Doucet on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell. Fr. Brian Harrington will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the church cemetery.

Hilton, age 73, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Hilton was dedicated to his craft as a diesel auto mechanic. Over the years, he worked as a mechanic for Waste Management and Republic Services. He also worked for the St. Landry Parish Sheriff as a jailer and mechanic. In his later years, he discovered a passion for baking and cooking. Hilton will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Hilton is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra Darbonne Doucet; son, Hilton “Joey” Doucet II and wife, Veronique; daughters, Tammy Doucet Pitre and Julie Doucet; sisters, Jenny Cronin and husband, Bob; Carolyn Deprimo and husband, Dominick and Susan Rodkey and husband, Chris; 6 grandchildren, Michael Pitre, Lena Fernandez, Isabel Fernandez, Johnathan Fernandez, Xander Doucet and Koby Palmer; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Hilton is preceded in death by his son, Elie Doucet; parents, Raymond Doucet and Irene Miller Doucet; and sisters, Mary Carvell and Theresa Seabrook

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 11, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. by Deacon Dwayne Joubert. Visitation will resume on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Acadiana for the care they provided; especially Hilton’s nurses, Christine and Viviane; and caregivers, Addie, Camillia and Janet.

Pallbearers will be Michael Pitre, Johnathan Fernandez, Isabel Fernandez, Jacob Deprimo, Koby Palmer and Wayne Ledee.
