Genevieve Charles

Opelousas– A Funeral Service will be held for Genevieve Thomas Charles on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Church of God Campground in Palmetto. Visitation will be held in the church from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Dale Fontenot will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Chimneyville Baptist Cemetery in Garland.

Genevieve, age 65, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette surrounded by her family.

Genevieve will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed attending worship and was a parishioner of Chimneyville Baptist Church in Garland, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in LeBeau and St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Avondale. Genevieve loved playing bingo and dancing to a good tune. She was a social butterfly and never met a stranger. Genevieve will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

Genevieve is survived by her husband of 46 years, Joseph Charles; daughters, LaToya Charles-Daniels (David), Brandy Charles and wife, Brandy Abadie, Jenifer Charles and fiancé, Tyrone Tonkins; brothers, George Thomas, Jr. and wife, Delores, Joseph Thomas, Sr. and wife, Alvirda, Paul Thomas, Sr., Daniel Thomas, Sr. and wife, Sharon, Michael Thomas, Sr. and wife, Cynthia, Luke Thomas, Sr. and wife, Vonda; sisters, Clara Dumes, Theresa Duckless and husband, Paul, Sr., Juanita Cane and husband, Eugene; grandchildren, Mariah Gordon and husband, Dillon, David Daniels III, Caitlin Daniels and Charles Edwards III; great-grandchildren, Leah Gordon and Dillon Gordon, Jr.

Genevieve is preceded in death by her parents, George Thomas, Sr. and Louise Davis Thomas; brother, Lawrence Thomas; sister-in-law, Laverne Thomas; brother-in-law, Marvin Dumes.

Pallbearers will be Krandall Pijue, Dillon Gordon, Sr., Isaiah Charles, Anthony Davis, Jr., Michael Thomas, Jr., Bobby Charles. Honorary pallbearers will be Grandy Vallien, Edward Charles, Warren Charles, Arthur Charles, Jr., Luke Thomas, Sr., George Thomas, Jr., Paul Thomas, Daniel Thomas, Sr., Joseph Thomas, Sr. and Larry Charles, Sr.
