August 17, 1955 — December 27, 2020

Donald Pulford Davis, Jr., died peacefully in his sleep on December 27, 2020. Born on August 17, 1955, Don was 65 years old and a native of Long Branch, NJ.  An artist who painted figurative paintings and landscapes, Don lived in New York City for many years and spent weekends in rural Pennsylvania, where he kept a large painting studio. Don’s paintings were exhibited in numerous solo and group shows in New York City and other locations throughout the northeast, and also in New Orleans. Several of his paintings were showcased in pivotal scenes in the movie “Down To You” (2000). Don loved to read and over his lifetime assembled an extensive collection of art books as well as literary works. His other interests included astronomy, music, playing guitar, gardening, bee keeping, classic cars, the NY Yankees, and the films of Laurel and Hardy. Don always had a dog by his side, and he provided a loving home for rescued cats and kittens. For the past eight years, Don has resided in Opelousas. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Holly Ann Johnson, a native of Opelousas, and a sister, Sarah McBride, of Wisconsin, as well as two nephews, two nieces, and long-time friends, Henry Haggerty of New Jersey, and Barry Marloff of California, and Mike Hruska of California.
