David Lanclos, Jr.

December 31, 1941 ~ February 13, 2021 (age 79)


Opelousas – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for David Lanclos, Jr. on Friday, February 19, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church of Opelousas. Fr. Gregory Simien will celebrate the mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.

David, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the age of 79, at his residence surrounded by his family.

David enjoyed fishing and tending to the garden with his wife, Shirley. David was known for being a dedicated family and working man. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Richard Lanclos of Prairie Ronde; son, Robert Gene Lanclos of Prairie Ronde; Janet Lanclos Southall (Brian) of Church Point; sisters, Mary Billeaudeau (John) of Opelousas and Dolly Breaux (Roy) of Grand Coteau; 7 grandchildren, Aimee Fremin, Joshua Lanclos, Jordan Lanclos, Sienna Lanclos, Lainey Tate, Jacob Southall and Jessi Southall; 5 great-grandchildren, Rylan Fremin, Levi Fremin, Jax David Fremin, Parker Tate and Natalie Tate.  

He is preceded in death by his son, David Lanclos III; parents, David and Virgie Lanclos; and sister, Delores Hill.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. The rosary will be recited by Deacon Ulysse Joubert at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The funeral home will reopen on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Brian Southall, Jacob Southall, Joshua Fremin, Christopher Tate, Jordan Lanclos and Mike Manuel. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Lanclos and Rylan Fremin.
