Beatrice Sibille

December 1, 1926 — October 30, 2022

Grand Coteau– A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Beatrice “Bea” Devillier Sibille on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at 3:30 p.m. in St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton, LA. Msgr. Russell Harrington will Celebrate the Mass.  Interment will follow in the St. John Berchmans Cemetery.

Music will be provided by Katie Rees and Natalie Sibille.

Bea passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at the age of 95. Bea was a member of the Opelousas Art League, the Lafayette Art Association and L’Acadian Art Guild. She enjoyed painting, gardening, cooking, sewing, reading, antiques and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She won over 80 awards for her sensational works of art, including numerous “Best in Show” awards in cities across South Louisiana and Mississippi. She was known for her generous spirit and donated her art show winnings to local organizations. She also donated paintings for local fund raisers.

Bea is survived by her son, Kent Sibille and his wife, Tara Zerangue of Bristol, grandchildren, Michael Kevin Sibille and Natalie Catherine Sibille.

Bea is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Gordon Sibille, her son, Michael Kevin Sibille, parents, Sylvan and Etta Nezat Devillier, brother, Errol Devillier, sister, Sylvia Devillier Walker.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be prayed by David Menard at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Michael Sibille, Gary Fontenot, Randy Fontenot, Michael Walker, Shane Richard, and Jerry Domengeaux.

Special thanks to Alicia Frederick, who cared for her for years, with so much love and kindness. Thanks also to her other kind caregivers, Eunice, Denise and Fran.
