William Bill Hatch

Opelousas- Bill Hatch, 78, passed away on July 8, 2006 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Hopewell, Virginia on March 8, 1928.

Mr. Hatch is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Dorothy Goyette Hatch; one son, Bill Hatch and wife Aleyce of Tulsa, Oklahoma and their seven daughters and their husbands;

Maureen and Lonnie Stockwell of Kenner, Joellyn Grass of Baton Rouge, Laurie and Charles Going of Opelousas, Julie Hall of Atlanta, Georgia, Suzie and Raymond Hargroder of Opelousas, Janine and Jamey Hopper of Baton Rouge, and Barbara and Yul Lorio of Lake Charles and one sister, Mary Ann Naboychik of Livonia, Michigan. He leaves behind eighteen grand children and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hatch was preceded in death by his parents, William Hatch and Eleanor Hatch Graham; a brother John and son-in-law Hurst Hall.

Mr. Hatch was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His faith and Christian values guided his life. . He was employed as a chemist by Marcann Outdoor Advertising and he retired after thirty-five years. Bill was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church Parish. He served as a Parish Council Member, an usher, and as an instructor of religious education. Throughout his childrens lives he was committed to Catholic education and served on AIC and Opelousas Catholic High School boards and was involved in many other school activities. He was a volunteer at Opelousas General Hospital, worked to help those in need of medicines through the St. Landry Rural Health Organization and he also helped people with their taxes as an AARP volunteer. Mr. Hatch also sponsored two children through the Christian Foundation of Children and Aging, Covenant House in New Orleans and EWTN.

The Hatch family asks any donations made to any of these groups or Opelousas Catholic High School in his name would be most welcome.

The family will receive visitors at Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, July 9, 2006 from 5:00-9:00 PM with a Rosary recited at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of Angels on Monday, July 10, 2006.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Opelousas General Health System, Dr. Rainey and Louisiana Oncology Associates and Dr. Eniko Barthel.
