Viola Wyble Gilbert

Opelousas Mrs. Viola Wyble Gilbert was a native of Port Barre and a past resident of Opelousas. She died at 4:10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2006, in the Evangeline Oaks Guest House in Carencro. She was 87 years old and a retired Nurse.

Mrs. Viola worked at numerous hospitals in the Acadiana area-Charity Hospital in Lafayette, Iberia General Hospital in New Iberia, and Doctors Hospital of Opelousas. She was also a part of the Senior Companion Program of Opelousas.

Survivors include: one daughter, Nora Gail Lanclos Gay and husband, Walter Walt Gay of France and Mexico; 2 grandchildren: Jean Chaisson and Shawn Chaisson, and one great grandson all of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Wyble and Elia McGee Wyble; and her brothers and sisters.
