Opelousas– A Funeral Service for Verlie Guillory LaFleur will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Fr. Laurent De Prins with the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany of Opelousas will conduct the service. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Verlie, age 83, a resident of Opelousas, entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 30, 2021, at St. Landry Extended Care Hospital. She will be missed by all her family and friends.

Verlie was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. She enjoyed visiting and attending family gatherings, going out to eat, doing word search puzzles and reading.

Verlie is survived by her sister, Irene Guillory Comeaux; nieces, Judy Beard, JoAnn Bozeman, Connie Guillory and Stephanie Van Fleet; nephew, Doug Guillory, Jr.; and a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Verlie is preceded in death by her husband, Juste LaFleur; her special longtime companion, Arista “Slim” Hollier; her parents, Moise and Aline Guillory; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Doug, Sr. and Nell Guillory; and her brother-in-law, Marks Comeaux.

Pallbearers will be Doug Guillory, Jr., Christopher Bordelon, Michael Van Fleet, Greg Hollier, Robert Fontenot and John Stevens. Honorary pallbearers will be Dylan Hollier and Cain Hollier.
