NEW ORLEANS - Graveside inurnment services for Valerie S. Johnson, age 83, will be held on (date pending), 2026 at (time pending) in the St. Patrick’s #2 Cemetery, 5000 Canal St., New Orleans, LA. Father (pending) will officiate the blessing at the graveside.

She entered eternal rest on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Opelousas, LA.

Valerie was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known to many as Mom, Maw Maw, Maw and Grandma.

Valerie retired from Aire Nu and Aire Filtration in Harahan, LA. She loved watching game shows, classic shows, and going to the Casino.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Joseph “Rusty” Johnson, Jr., (Barbara) of Colorado Springs, CO; two daughters, Vickie Johnson Matirne of Lafayette, LA, and Tammy Johnson Carriere (Steven) of Opelousas, LA; five grandchildren, Nicholas Solomon (Alaina) of Lafayette, LA, Lindsay Manuel (companion Ryan) of Opelousas, LA, Tiffany Spisak (Kolby) of Scottsdale, AZ, Lance Carriere (Brooke) of Arnaudville, LA, and Aaron Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO; two step-grandchildren, Elizabeth McDaniel of Texas City, TX, Rebbecca McDaniel of Colorado Springs, CO; five great-grandchildren, Peyton Manuel, Korben Spisak, Luke Spisak, Emma Carriere, Layne Carriere; one step great-grandchild, Angel McDaniel; her beloved granddog Tia; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Now she rest in Heaven with her beloved husband of 66 years, Joseph “Russell” Johnson, Sr.; her beloved parents, Andrew, Sr. and Vivian Flye Sharp; brother and sister-in-laws, Andrew and Elaine Partlan Sharp and Judith Gidney Sharp; her father and mother-in-law, William, Sr. and Eledia Chandler Johnson; and one step grandson, Jonathan McDaniel.
