It is with heavy hearts that the family of Thelma Lanclos announce her passing at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home Facility in Opelousas on Friday, December 30, 2022, when she went to meet her husband, “Blue” on what would have been their 77th wedding anniversary.
Mom was an outdoor person, always digging in her flower beds and small garden. We believe in all of God’s creations, she loved to be surrounded by flowers, roses, and lilies. These brought brightness to her eyes and a smile to her face. She also enjoyed baking and making small arts and crafts projects. Her grandchildren vividly remember Grandma’s homemade cinnamon rolls, gingerbread men, birthday cakes, weddings cakes or just a cake for a special occasion. Our Christmas trees are decorated with countless, intricately, crocheted ornaments handcrafted with love. We pray the flower gardens in Heaven will bring her peace, joy, happiness, and love that she worked toward throughout her earthly life.
Thelma is survived by her six children, Elaine Lanclos, Loretta Ryder (Lawrence “Bubby”), Patricia Stelly (Walton), Carl Lanclos (Tammy), Annette Phillips (Frank) and Elizabeth Morris (Lee); 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 3 step great-great grandchildren and baby Cooper due in February; her siblings, Dorothy Istre, Gloria DeRoussell (Larry), Florina Hollier and Philip Boudreaux, Jr.
Thelma is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Oscar “Blue” Lanclos, Jr.; son-in-law, John L. Lanclos; her parents, Phillip and Isaure Simon Boudreaux; siblings, Gilford Boudreaux, Sr., Allen Boudreaux, Mary B. Foreman, Chester James Boudreaux and infant brother, Chester Emark Boudreaux; her in-laws, Laura Willingham Lanclos and Oscar Lanclos, Sr.
