Port Barre- A Memorial Service will be held for Syble “Sybie” Gaudet on Friday, August 21, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Port Barre. Pastor Benji Richard will conduct the service. Visitation will be held in the church from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service. Due to the current COVID-19 mask mandate set forth by the state, the family ask that mask be worn in the church and visitors practice social distancing.
Sybie, age 80, a resident of Port Barre, entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 14, 2020 at Opelousas General Health System.
Sybie enjoyed sewing. She also loved cooking and canning figs, jelly and pickles. She was a natural born caregiver and loved taking care of everyone. She loved being outside, she could often be found cutting her grass with her push mower and tending to her garden. Sybie was also an avid collector of ceramic roosters. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bobby J. Gaudet; son, Robert Gaudet; "adopted son", Beaux Johnson (fiancé, Amber Gautreaux); daughters, Belinda Jennings (Donny), Becky Sonnier (“Chubby”) Bobbie Jo Leblanc (Jason); "adopted daughters", Amanda Johnson and Gaby Bellow; sister, Aline Hudson; grandchildren, Brenton Sonnier, Armecia Hadley, Jake Gaudet, Alec Gaudet, Sydnie Gaudet, Gracie Gaudet, Gage Gaudet, Josie Leblanc and Christopher Leblanc; a host of great-grandchildren; and her bestfriend, Georgie Lahaye.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Ina Mae Rourks; twin brother, Sidney Ray Rourks; and sister, Betty Norman.
