Port Barre- A Funeral Service will be held for Sue Traylor Devillier on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the First Baptist Church of Port Barre. Visitation will be held in the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Pastor Joe Jenkins will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Sue Traylor Devillier, a beloved member of the Port Barre and Opelousas community and devoted educator, passed away peacefully at her residence. She was born on November 9, 1938, in Houston, TX, and entered into eternal rest on November 15, 2023. 

Sue's educational journey began with a thirst for learning that eventually led her to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Armed with her degree, she embarked on a career that would touch the lives of countless students. As an educator, Sue approached her profession with a passion unmatched by many.

Beyond the classroom walls, Sue found comfort in various hobbies and interests that enriched her life. She had a deep fascination for genealogy and spent numerous hours tracing her family's roots, connecting past generations to their legacy. 

Upon her death Sue was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church of PB, as her membership spanned over 70 years. Her strong faith propelled her to serve as both a dedicated church member and church secretary. Through her unwavering commitment and warm smile, she touched the lives of everyone she encountered within the walls of her cherished church community.

Sue is survived by her daughters, Jenny Beth Blair and Judy Layne Williams; 6 grandchildren, Abbey Williams, Jacob (Kayla) Williams, Elizabeth (Dustin) Benzer, Rebecca (Bond) Babin, Morgen Harris and Justen Harris; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Nolan Devillier; her son, Paul A. Harris; her parents, Wallace and Garnet Traylor; and her brothers, Gene and Barney Traylor.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Justen Harris and Jacob Williams; her grandsons-in-law, Bond Babin, Dustin Benzer; her nephew, Steve Traylor; and a family friend, Deon Boudreaux. Honorary pallbearer will be her great-grandson, Lane Duplechain

Let us remember Sue not with sorrow but with gratitude for the remarkable life she lived and the profound difference she made in the lives of those around her. Now she is at peace with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
