Shirley, a beloved owner of a meat market and a nurturing figure in the lives of many, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, at the J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing. Born on December 12, 1935, in Arnaudville, she filled the lives of those around her with love and warmth throughout her remarkable life.
Shirley was not only a successful businesswoman but also a devoted caregiver, as she graciously babysat children in her home for 19 years, treating each child as if they were her own. This deep-seated love for others was a hallmark of her character, and she extended this affection to her family, holding them close to her heart with unwavering devotion.
For 73 wonderful years, Shirley was the cherished wife of Teurling Guillory of Port Barre. Together, they built a life filled with love and joy, raising their daughters, Charlene Wyble Mistric, Brenda Myers, and her husband, Mike, in a home where compassion was paramount. Shirley took immense pride in her role as a grandmother to Natalie Wyble, Marcus Wyble, Clint Wyble, and Lance Myers, and she delighted in the joy brought by her great-grandchildren—Lauren Wyble Furey, Bailee Fontenot, Bennett Myers, Madeline Myers, Liliy Wyble, Aubrey Wyble, and Hudson Wyble. Most recently, she welcomed the new addition of her great-great-grandchild, William Fontenot, and two nieces and three nephews, which brought her immense joy.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Elmire Guidry; her daughter, Charlene Wyble Mistric, and her husband, Charles Mistric and the father of her children, Glenn Wyble, her brothers, Russell, Arthur Jr., and Gussie Guidry; and her sister, Flo Zerangue. The memory of her loving spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her surviving family members, who will continue to honor her legacy of love and kindness.
She leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories, woven through the lives of those she touched, and her loving nature will remain a guiding light for her family and friends. Shirley Guillory’s impact on her community and those she loved will be remembered with great fondness and respect.
