Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Scott Wayne Fitzgerald on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. Fr. James Brady will officiate the Mass. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary to be prayed at 11:00 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel.
Scott Wayne Fitzgerald, a beloved son, brother, father, and friend passed away on June 9, 2004. Born July 24, 1966, Scott led a remarkable life filled with love and care for those around him.
Scott's journey in education was marked by his dedication and perseverance. He graduated from Belmont Academy in 1984 and later from T.H. Harris in 1986, exemplifying his commitment to learning and growth.
In 1987, Scott bravely served in the Navy, showcasing his courage and patriotism as he fulfilled his duty to his country.
Known for his warm and compassionate nature, Scott was a loving and caring person whose presence brought joy to all who knew him. His memory will be cherished by all those whose lives he touched.
Scott is survived by his beloved daughter, Jennifer Elise Fitzgerald Katz, who was a source of pride and joy in his life. He also leaves behind his brother Donald and sister-in-law Charlotte Taylor Fitzgerald, as well as nieces Meredith Fitzgerald, Lauren Fitzgerald Underwood (David), Alexandra Fitzgerald Haney (Donnie), and great nieces and nephews Carson Lee Andrus, Julia Elizabeth Underwood, Samuel Henry Underwood, James Fitzgerald Haney, Donald Charles Haney, and Olivia Haney.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Donald Dean and Madelyn "Maggie" Fitzgerald Halphen. In their embrace in the afterlife, may Scott find eternal peace and rest.
Scott Wayne Fitzgerald will forever be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace as we continue to hold him close in our hearts.
