Opelousas- A Memorial Service will be held for Sandra Kay Ortego on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 7:30 pm in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel.

Sandra Kay Ortego, age 74, born on December 28, 1951, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at her residence on July 1, 2026.

Sandra’s appreciation for the finer things in life was evident to those around her. She approached each day with enthusiasm, embracing life’s many joys and sharing her warmth with others. Her passion for clothes, antiques, and art reflected her unique eye for beauty and her innate ability to find elegance in the everyday.

Sandra is remembered for the enthusiasm and joy she brought into every room she entered. Her loved ones recall how her style and creativity made a lasting impression; whether she was selecting a new outfit, discovering a treasured antique, or admiring a piece of art, Sandra’s excitement was infectious and inspired those who knew her to cherish the moments and objects they held dear.

Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, John Ellis Ortego; daughter, Deborah Mary Foret & husband Darrell of Houma; 3 grandchildren, Greyson Harper, MacKenna Redmond and Gabriel Salazar; brother, Troy Fuslier & wife Terri of Ville Platte; sister, Frankie Fuslier of Covington.

Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, Iram & Hazel Fuslier.

Sandra Kay Ortego’s legacy lives on in the memories of all who were fortunate enough to share in her laughter, her friendship, and her zest for life. She will be dearly missed.
