Obituary

Opelousas- Funeral service will be held for Sandra Darbonne Doucet on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 1:30 pm in Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Fr. Mark Ledoux will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the St. Bridget Cemetery in Lawtell.

Visitation will be held on Thursday in the Sibille Funeral Home from 9:00 am until time of service.

Sandra, born on December 2, 1952, in Richie, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, at Acadia St. Landry Nursing Home. As her journey comes to a gentle close, those who knew Sandra remember a life marked with love, resilience, and deep ties to family.

Sandra was born to Pleny and Ethel Darbonne, who nurtured her in a warm and caring home, instilling in her the values of kindness and integrity. 

In marriage, Sandra found a steady companion in her beloved husband, Hilton Doucet. Their union brought both joy and strength, and together they raised their children, Hilton "Joey" Doucet, II and his wife Veronique of Lawtell, Tammy Doucet Lanthier and her husband Gerry of Lawtell, and Julie Doucet of Lawtell,  brother, David Darbonne and his wife Myrtis of Eunice, sister, Evelyn Calvier of Eunice and there grandchildren, David Mike Pitre, Lena May Fernandez, Isabel Marie Fernandez, Xander Joseph Doucet, Koby Michael Palmer, Johnathan Fernandez, one great granddaughter, Alora May LeBlanc.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Hilton Doucet, Son, Elie Doucet, father, Pleny Darbonne, mother, Ethel Darbonne, brother, Lawrence Darbonne. 

Her life story is a testament to devotion, demonstrating devotion to family and cherished connections. She faced life's challenges with courage and navigated each moment with quiet dignity. Sandra’s presence brightened the days of those around her, and her memory remains a beloved legacy.

Sandra Darbonne Doucet’s passing marks the end of an era for her family and friends. As she joins her loved ones who have gone before her, she leaves behind a tapestry of irreplaceable memories, fondly remembered by all who cherished her.
