Opelousas- A Funeral Service will be held for Ronald James Taylor on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park. Pastor Kirk Alexander of the First Baptist Church will officiate the service.
Visitation will be held in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.
Ronald James Taylor, a native of Lawtell, Louisiana, age 74, passed away on September 30, 2026, at The Calcutta House in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Mr. Taylor was known for his dedication to his work and his strong independent spirit. He was the owner and operator of Taylor Air Conditioning, serving St. Landry Parish since 1973. Through many years of hard work, he built a life centered on commitment, perseverance, and pride in what he did.
He found great joy on the open road, riding his Harley with his wife to the Smoky Mountains, making memories of the freedom and companionship of those travels. He also loved playing the drums, a pastime that reflected his energy and love of life.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Johnnie Whisenhunt Taylor of Lawtell; brother Roy J. Taylor & wife Robin of Panama City, FL; aunts, Eloise St Cyr of Opelousas, and Glenda Joubert of Opelousas; nieces, Jacqueline Palmer, Laura Lancon, Rachel Karns, Michelle Lanclos, and Jill Masters; nephews, Scott Whisenhunt and Timothy Taylor; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ruby Taylor.
Ronald will be remembered for the life he lived, the work of his hands, and the passions he carried with him through the years. His memory will remain with all who knew him.
In leu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made in Ronald Taylor's name to Louisiana Baptist Children's Home or First Baptist Church of Opelousas.
