Ronald Aaron Lafleur, Jr.

July 12, 1969 — June 29, 2023

WASHINGTON- A Funeral Service will be held for Ronald A. Lafleur, Jr. on Monday, July 10, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Reverend Laurent de Prins will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA.

Ronald Jr., age 53, a resident of Elgin, TX and native of Washington, entered eternal rest on June 29, 2023, at his residence in Texas, in the loving arms of his wife Kimbra. He was a loving husband, son, and brother. He had a passion for life and those who knew him would say he was a vibrant self-less person, a premiere cowboy and he would enter up for an adventure.  No matter who you were, big or small, successful or just starting, he made all feel special.

Ron grew up in Washington, LA., where he loved pushing his tractors and trucks in the dirt with his cousin Lawrence, swimming in the bayou, farming with his uncle Lawrence, riding with his uncle Donald in his 18-wheeler hauling grain and especially helping his dad on vet calls. Ron had a passion for team roping which came at an early age and continued through high school and college (McNeese State University) which opened doors allowing him to travel throughout the U.S. and Canada pursuing his dreams. He then returned home to start his first career in the trucking business. He never lost his interest in shiny fast trucks with lots of chrome. The people he developed friendships with over the years and his ongoing passion for animals, led him to pursue a certification in equine dentistry from LSU.

In 2009 Ron was reunited with an old friend who became his future wife and soul mate, Kimbra. The two continued the equine dentistry business which allowed them to travel to various parts of the country, enjoying many friendships developed along the way. Being a people person, he never met a stranger, truly enjoyed his work, and loved being a big part of his client’s equine program and truly made an impact to all who were blessed to be a part of his journey.

Survivors include his loving wife Kimbra Lafleur, his adoring mother, Ludema Thistlethwaite Lafleur, his four beautiful sisters, India Anderpont (Brent), Stephanie Stevens (Johnny), Melissa Duhon, Dona Collins (Bryant "Tiger"), nieces, Dana Luna (Anthony), Hannah Saucier (Jacob), Mamie Harris (Marshall), Emily Warren (Lee), Sarah Stevens (Wesley Thibodeaux), Brooke Collins (Pace Savoie), Katie Collins,  nephews, Steven Duhon, Dustin Duhon, and Tucker Collins (Harley), 19 great nieces and nephews, 1 great-great nephew, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and he was especially close to little Glen Hunt, Jr.,  Lawrence (Tara) Thistlethwaite, III., and his Uncle Donald Lafleur (Nancy), from Colfax, La.,

Ron is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Ronald A. Lafleur Sr., a very special cousin, Thomas Allen Lafleur, his paternal grandparent, Teurling and Marguerite David Lafleur, maternal grandparents, Lawrence, Sr. and Eloise Ortego Thistlethwaite.

Escorting Ron to meet his maker will be Lawrence Thistlethwaite III, Winston Frey, Johnny Stevens, Anthony Luna, Todd Arthur, Shane Paschal, Kenny Kyle, and Steven Duhon.

Honorary pallbearers are all his family and friends that knew him.

Memorials are welcome by the family in his honor to St. Jude.

A Memorial Scholarship in Ron’s memory is in the process of being established.
