Ronald Bergeron

OPELOUSAS– A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Ronald Paul Bergeron at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Fr. Jude Halphen will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the church cemetery.

Ronald, age 81, a native of Opelousas, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021, at his residence in New Orleans.

Mr. Bergeron served his country proudly in the United States Navy for two tours during the Vietnam War; where he retired as a Captain, also Mr. Bergeron was a highly decorated veteran receiving a Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal including (4) Bronze Stars & a Marine Corps Device, National Defense Service Medal & Presidential. Unit Citation Medal. Mr. Bergeron went onto pursue a career in dentistry where he served his community for over 50 years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ronald is survived by his brother, Kenneth M. Bergeron and wife, Linda of Opelousas; sister, Gail B. Young of Deer Park, TX; nieces and nephews, Shelli B. Ziegler and husband, David of Opelousas, Paul Bergeron and wife, Shannon of Sunset, Bernice Farrington and husband, Harold of Texas and Patty Young of Deer Park, TX; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, Shelly Paul Bergeron and Bernice Cormier Bergeron; and brother-in-law, Emile Young.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas.
