OPELOUSAS- A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert "Bobby" Gene Lanclos will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Leo Catholic Church in Leonville. Father Darren Eldridge will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 12:30 PM by Donald Thompson in the funeral home. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Robert, a devoted family man and former dedicated member of the Opelousas Police Department, passed away on September 9, 2023, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. Born on February 19, 1964, in Lafayette, LA, he was the son of David Lanclos, Jr., and Shirley Richard Lanclos. Robert leaves behind a legacy of service and love that will forever be cherished by his family and friends.

Robert's career with the Opelousas Police Department spanned an impressive 13 years, during which he rose to the highest rank of Sergeant. He served his community with unwavering commitment and a deep sense of duty. His dedication to upholding law and order made him a respected figure in Opelousas and beyond.
While Robert's professional accomplishments were remarkable, it is his role as a loving grandfather that truly defined him. He adored his grandkids, especially his "lil man" Rylan. They brought immense joy to his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them. 

Beyond work and family, Robert had a passion for yard work and detailing cars. He found solace in maintaining his yard with meticulous care. The sight of a well-manicured lawn brought him immense satisfaction. Additionally, he found great joy in working on cars and bringing out their best appearance. These hobbies became outlets for relaxation and self-expression in Robert's life. Robert never met a stranger, and he found great joy in spending time with his friends.

Robert leaves behind a cherished family who adored and admired him deeply. He is survived by his daughters, Aimée Fremin and husband Joshua, Lainey Tate and husband Christopher; his mother Shirley Richard Lanclos; sister, Janet Lanclos Southall and husband Brian; as well as his grandchildren Rylan Fremin, Levi Fremin, Jax David Fremin, Parker Tate, Natalie Tate, and Myles Tate; his nieces and nephews, Joshua, Jordan, Sienna Lanclos and Jacob and Jessi Southall.

Robert is preceded in death by his father, David Lanclos, Jr. and his brother, David Lanclos III. 

Pallbearers will be Brian Southall, Jacob Southall, Christopher Tate, Joshua Fremin, Dennis Johnson and Chad Courville. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rylan Fremin, Jody Johnson, Joshua Lanclos and Jordan Lanclos.

Robert's memory will forever be etched into the tapestry of our lives. His selflessness, dedication, and unwavering love for family will remain an inspiration for generations to come. May he find eternal peace as he watches over us with that familiar twinkle in his eye.
