Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Robert “Bobby” Lee Darbonne on February 9, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, La with Fr. Matthew Higginbotham. The Rite of Committal will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, La.
Robert “Bobby” Lee Darbonne Sr., beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on February 5, 2024, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was a caring and loving individual who dedicated his life to his family.
Bobby had a long and fulfilling career with Dixie Pipeline before retiring. His commitment and hard work were evident in every project he took on. Throughout his years of service, Bobby made lasting connections with his colleagues. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his craft.
In addition to his successful career, Bobby proudly served his country as a member of the National Guard. He exhibited bravery and selflessness during his military service, embodying the values that make our nation strong.
Bobby was an avid cattle producer, specifically show cattle, finding solace and purpose in raising these animals. His dedication to this industry was admired by those around him.
Family always held a special place in Bobby's heart. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. The love he had for his family was immeasurable and unwavering. Whether it was attending school events, cattle shows, cheering on his loved ones from the stands at baseball games, Bobby was always there with a smile on his face. Baseball held a special place in Bobby's heart. As an ardent fan of the sport, he followed every game passionately. His enthusiasm for baseball brought great joy to those around him as he shared in the excitement of each game.
Bobby's involvement in the community extended far beyond his personal pursuits. He had a deep-rooted commitment to supporting youth development through the 4-H Program. Bobby understood the importance of guiding future generations and ensuring they had access to opportunities for growth and learning.
Additionally, Bobby was a proud member of the Louisiana Cattleman Association. His membership was a testament to his expertise and dedication to the cattle industry. He found pride in being part of a community that shared his passion for raising and caring for these remarkable animals. Robert "Bobby" Lee Darbonne Sr. leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of love, hard work, and dedication. His kindness, integrity, and commitment to his family and community will forever be remembered.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence “Picayune” Darbonne & Rosa Mae LaHaye Darbonne; and his sister in-law, Elizabeth Gautreaux Darbonne.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Susan Harvey Darbonne of Slaughter, La; sons, Robert “Robby” Darbonne Jr. and his wife, Cathleen of Iowa, La, Cody Lane Darbonne and his wife, Kerri Wilson Darbonne of Duncan, Oklahoma; daughter, Jennifer Darbonne Millican and her husband, Clint Millican of Zachary, La; brother, Paul Wayne Darbonne Sr. of Port Barre; grandchildren, Arlee Darbonne, Allie Darbonne, Jack Darbonne, Hunter Millican, Mason Millican, Haden Millican, Wyatt Millican, Darby Darbonne, Devri Darbonne, and Dixon Darbonne.
Visitation for Robert “Bobby” Lee Darbonne Sr., will be on February 8, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume on February 9, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
