Robbie Briley

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for, Robbie Ann Pitre Briley, at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Reverend James Brady will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Peter Cemetery in Grand Prairie, LA.

Mrs. Briley, age 83, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Robbie worked as a nurse at Opelousas General Health System for many years. Following her dedicated service as a nurse she continued her caregiving an opened "Robbie's Daycare". She enjoyed taking care of others especially her children; whether it be her own or those of her daycare. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time at the casino and cooking for her family and friends. She will be truly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Marlyn Goutro and husband, Nathan Goutro, Sr., Joan Briley and Patrice Montgomery; her sons, Lonnie and Scott Briley. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lionel Briley; her parents, Henry and Ivy Pitre; her brothers, Curtis and Mervin Pitre and her son-in-law, William "Bill" Montgomery.

Pallbearers will be Lonnie Briley, Scott Briley, Nathan Goutro, Jason Morris and Brent Villemarette.

The family requests visitation be held from 1:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2017, at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. A rosary will be prayed by Reverend Austin Leger at 7:00 p.m. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday until 1:30 p.m.
