Opelousas-- A funeral service will be held for Rita Jeanette Stelly at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 26, 2025 in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Deacon Jerome Collins will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas.

Rita, a beloved matriarch and devoted homemaker, passed away on May 24, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on January 22, 1946, Rita was known for her loving spirit and unwavering dedication to her family.

Throughout her life, Rita cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, taking immense pride in her children and grandchildren. She was a source of strength and warmth, always focusing on the happiness of those around her. Her devotion to her family was evident in everything she did, and her legacy is one of love that will continue to inspire her loved ones for generations to come.

Rita is survived by her son, Michael Stelly, and her daughters, Melissa Brasseaux and Cindy Arnaud, paired harmoniously with their spouses, Charles Brasseaux and Woodie Arnaud. She leaves behind a legacy enriched by the presence of eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her unending joy.

Her siblings also hold a special place in her memory, with her brother, Leon Zerangue, and sister, Mary Letha, sharing in the deep love forged through their family bonds.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Alcia Zerangue; her husband, Patrick Stelly; and two beloved sons, Fredrick and Patrick Stelly. While her absence is deeply felt, her loving spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.

Rita Jeanette Stelly will be remembered as a very loving person who dedicated her life to her family, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will live on in the cherished memories and stories shared by those she touched throughout her beautiful life.
