Richard Gordon "Dicky" Parker, Sr., a beloved farmer and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2023, at his home. He was born on September 22, 1948, in Baton Rouge, LA. Dickie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who touched the lives of many with his love and caring nature.

Dicky's passion for farming was evident throughout his life. He worked alongside his brother on their family land for many years, nurturing the soil and embracing the cycles of nature. His dedication to agriculture was admirable, showcasing his commitment to providing for his loved ones and the local community.

Dicky will be deeply missed by his surviving family members: his loving wife Myra Martin Parker of Melville; his son Richard G. Parker Jr., residing in Youngsville; and his daughter Jennifer Parker Koening from Lafayette. His grandchildren Kennedy Koening, Parker Koenig, Peyton Parker, and Trey Parker will forever carry cherished memories of their doting grandfather.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William and Joyce Parker Sr., brother, William "Bill" Parker, Jr., and one sister-in-law, Barbara Bonnette Parker. Dicky"s legacy will live on through the memories shared by all his loved ones, who were fortunate to have had him in their lives. His immense kindness and unwavering love will forever be etched in their hearts.

To honor the life of Richard Gordon "Dicky" Parker, Sr., a visitation will take place on October 15, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Sibille Funeral Home located at 2309 George Drive, Opelousas, LA 70570. The funeral service will be held on the same day at the same location from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. This will be an opportunity for all who knew and loved Dicky to come together to remember him fondly and bid farewell.

Dicky touched the lives of many with his kindness, compassion, and dedication. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and a profound impact on all those fortunate enough to have known him.
