Regina Credeur Franks Venable

Port Barre Funeral services for Mrs. Regina Credeur Franks Venable, 82, will be held at 11 AM on Monday, August 13, 2007, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Port Barre. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. Rev. Tom Courville will conduct the services.

Mrs. Venable, a native of Opelousas and long-time resident of Port Barre died at 12:50 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2007, in the Opelousas General Health System. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time outdoors. She loved camping, fishing, and crabbing. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother, sister, and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband of 12 years, Mr. James Jim Venable; one son, Lawrence Franks, Jr. and wife, Sherry; and two daughters: Leona Franks LeJeune and husband, Moise; and Debra Ann Franks Robin and companion, John Ed Barron, all of Port Barre; step son, Charles James Venable of Morgan City; two sisters: Laurence Guidry and husband, John of Arnaudville; and Rosa Belle Joubert and husband, Gerald of Marrero; two sisters-in-law: Arlene Credeur of Marrero; and Mary Jane Credeur of Bourg; brother-in-law, Joseph Dennis Venable and wife, Francis of Amelia; step sisters-in-law: Rita Mae Venable, Martha Ann Venable, Martha Jane Janie Venable, all of Lafayette; and Freida Venable of Pennsylvania; two step brothers-in-law: Mike Venable and Jack Venable, both of Lafayette; grandchildren: Tina Marie LeJeune Elston and husband, Shawn of Lafayette; Tracy LeJeune and wife, Belinda of Port Barre; Scott, Josh, and Blaze Robin of Port Barre; Lisa Franks Meche and husband, Albert of Opelousas; and Melanie Franks Stoute and husband, Frank of Church Point; step grandchild, Heather Venable of Cecilia; and eight great grandchildren: Crystal and Kenny LeJeune, Matthew and Brodie Meche, Jacob and Jordan Stoute, Bryson Robin, and Sydney Brooke Elston.

She also is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other family members.

Pallbearers will be Brodie Meche, Jacob Stoute, Scott Robin, Josh Robin, Shawn Elston, and Kenny LeJeune. Honorary Pallbearers will be Blaze Robin, Jordan Stoute, and Bryson Robin.

Mrs. Venable was preceded in death by first her husband, Lawrence Franks, Sr.; her son, Bruce Franks; her parents: Cizaire and Leonie Credeur; step son, Calvin Joseph Venable; three brothers and six sisters.

Visiting hours will be observed on Sunday, August 12, 2007, from 2 -10 PM in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre. On Monday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until time of services. A Prayer service will be held at 7 PM on Sunday in the funeral home.
