Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Phillip J. Guidroz, Sr., age 59, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2009 in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Interment will follow in the St. Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville.

Mr. Guidroz was a resident of Prairie Ronde. He died on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, in the Opelousas General Health System. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Sunset Hunting Club. He also loved cook outs with his family and friends. One of his greatest pastimes was collecting ink pens. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Mrs. Rose Guidroz of Prairie Ronde; two sons: Joshua Guidroz and fiance, Jessica of Arnaudville; and Phillip Guidroz, Jr. of Krotz Springs; one daughter, Shawn Young of Krotz Springs; two stepsons: Blane Israel and wife, Laura of Prairie Ronde; and Bobby Israel and wife, Susan of Church Point; one stepdaughter, Patty Mingee and husband, Lenny of Oklahoma City, OK; one brother, Jerry Quebedeaux and wife, Pauline of Bunkie; one sister, April Guidroz and husband, Daniel of Arnaudville; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Guidroz.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. On Thursday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the funeral home.
