Paul Babineaux

Port Barre- Paul Babineaux, age 80 passed away on May 13, 2024, at his residence in Port Barre, LA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Paul Babineaux on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Fr Clint Trahan will conduct the mass.  Rite of Committal will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, where military honors will be rendered. 

Paul served 8 years in the Louisiana National Guard. He was a member of the American Legion Post 334, of Port Barre, Paul loved the outdoors which included his passion for gardening and raising chickens, rabbits, and pigeons. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for his family and friends. His all-time favorite past time was his yearly hunting trips with his sons. He was a talented self-employed painter for 30 years.

Paul Is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bonnie Roy Babineaux; 3 sons, Keith “Channy” Babineaux of Port Barre, Paul Doodie “Lisa” Babineaux of Lawtell, and Jami Babineaux of Port Barre; 3 sisters, Cheryl “Mitch” Byrom of Opelousas., Sandra “Kevin” Hidalgo of Opelousas and Lisa “Todd” Abshire of Port Barre; 2 double first cousins, Gilbert “Karen” Babineaux of Sunset and Mickey “Kerry” Daigle of Baton Rouge; which were more like a brother and sister, 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 3 bonus grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edmond and Audrey Sandoz Babineaux, son, Shane Babineaux, sister, Anna Lois Faul, brother, Owen J. Sandoz, his mother-in-law, Bernice Roy and father -in -law, Rayfield Roy.

Gift Bringing will be Sandra, Cheryl, and Mickey.

Pallbearers will be Rachelle Babineaux, Michael Bates, April Lalonde, Kevin Hidalgo, Cayde Babineaux, Bobby Duplechain.

Honorary pallbearers Chris Lalonde, Noah Lalonde, Evan Lalonde, Colby R. Babineaux, Doodie Babineaux, Keith Babineaux, Jami Babineaux, Josh Babineaux, Colby M. Babineaux.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home Chapel. On Thursday the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
