Opelousas -A mass of Christian burial will be held for Ozea Marie Noel on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Father Greg Simien will celebrate the mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Specular Mausoleum Cemetery.
Ozea, age of 95, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 16, 2022 at Opelousas General Health System surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Ozea was born and raised in Prairie Ronde. She worked as a waitress at The Palace Café for 25 years. She enjoyed cooking for and visiting with her family. She made sure everyone left with a full stomach and a promise to “come back soon.” She loved to pray the rosary and to read in her religious books. She always had a story to tell about her upbringing and raising her children. Her favorite pass time was watching her soap operas and doing crossword puzzles. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Montgomery and Dr. Kelly at Family Clinic and to the staff at Prompt Succor Nursing Home.
Ozea is survived by: sons JL Brown and wife Janice of Opelousas and Glendon Brown and wife Georgiana of Opelousas. Stepsons Ellis Noel and wife Laura of Opelousas and Felix Noel of Opelousas. Daughters Ruth Doucet and husband Roy of Arnaudville, Geneva Pitre and husband Ray of Opelousas, and Gloria Olivier and husband Roy of Eunice. Daughter in Law Charlene Brown of Opelousas. Stepdaughter in law Anna Lee Noel of Eunice. And one granddaughter she raised like her own daughter April Carriere (husband Blake) of Carencro. Other survivors include many grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Stella and Poulan Daville, first husband Joseph A Brown, second husband Wilsey Noel, daughter Laura Devillier and son in law Lee, son Leroy Brown, stepson Ashton Noel, stepdaughter Helen Boss and stepson in law Boone, stepdaughter in law Millie Noel. Others preceded in death include her grandchildren: Scotty Devillier, Christopher Hargroder, Joni Doucet, Brandon Brown, Pamela Doucet, and Brandy Olivier.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday May 18, 2022 from 3 pm until 9 pm in Sibille Funeral Home with a rosary recited at 6:30 pm. The wake will resume Thursday, May 19, 2022 until the time of service.
