PORT BARRE- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mildred Marks Hardy on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Fr. Clint Trahan will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 8:00 AM until 11 AM in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 AM in the church. Readers for the Mass will be Desiree Dean and Tracie Wheaton; Gift Bearers will be Luci Dean and Lucas Doucet; Altar Servers will be Jack Dean, Rex Dean and Matthew Vidrine.

Mildred Marks Hardy, born July 25, 1937, passed away peacefully at her home on 3 Mile Lake on May 6, 2025 surrounded by the enduring love of her family.

Mildred, a long time resident of Waxia , was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend whose warmth, kindness, and steady presence enriched the lives of all who knew her. She is survived by her five children: Pam Reed (Dale), Lora Guidry (Kim), Sidney Hardy (Pattie) all of Port Barre, Luke Hardy (Teresa) of Prairieville, and Barry Hardy (Melisa) of Waxia. She leaves behind a proud legacy of 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Lucas Hardy; her parents, Noah and Lucille Marks; six sisters and four brothers; and her great-grandson, Austin Reed.

Mildred was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Port Barre. In her earlier years, she worked at their store, Hardy’s Grocery in Palmetto. A graduate of Port Barre High School, Mildred was known for her generous spirit and strong sense of family. She lovingly cared for her sister Louise for many years, exemplifying the deep compassion that defined her life.

Mildred found joy in sewing, cooking, dancing, and bringing her family together for meals and celebrations. Her home was always filled with laughter, good food, and the warmth of togetherness. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by those whose lives she touched.

Pallbearers will be Sidney Hardy, Barry Hardy, Luke Hardy, Andrew Wheaton, Jared Reed and Craig Reed. Honorary pallbearers will be Craig Reed, Jr., Cohen Dean, Ruben Reed and Barry Hardy, Jr.
