Mike Fontenot

January 11, 1965 — September 2, 2023

Port Barre -- Mike had a passion for his work in construction and dedicated many years to his skills in the field. His commitment to his craft earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and clients alike. Mike's hard work and dedication were evident in every project he completed. The family wants to express a special thanks to Zealous Entergy Services for all their care and loved they showed Mike through all the years of his employment there.

Outside of work, Mike had a vibrant personality that endeared him to all who knew him. He was known as a very loving person who always put others before himself. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on those who had the privilege to call him friend or family.

Education played an important role in Mike's life, and he was proud to be a graduate of Port Barre High School. Throughout his life, he valued learning and sought opportunities for personal growth.

Mike had numerous hobbies and interests that brought him joy throughout his life. He loved fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors. Family was everything to Mike, and he cherished moments spent with loved ones. He enjoyed dancing, singing, and supporting LSU and Saints Football teams with passion. However exciting these activities were for him, nothing compared to the love he had for his only granddaughter, Jolie whom he adored with all his heart.

Born as the youngest of nine children to Royson "Son" and Hilda "Teda" Fontenot, Mike came from a close-knit family who loved him dearly. He shared special bonds with each of his sisters, Cheryl Fontenot Bonfanti, Enola Stoute (Bob), Cindy Graham (Michael), and Janice "Deanie" Bergeron  (Roderick "Boo"), brothers, Johnny Roy Fontenot (Tammy) and Ricky James Fontenot ( Melissa). Additionally, Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Royce (Son) and Hilda (Teda), Fontenot, brother, Donald (T-Ray) Fontenot, sister, Jenelle Babin and two nieces, Desiree and Erika Hidalgo, as well as a great nephew, Chandler Luke.

Despite the profound loss felt by Mike's passing, we find solace in the memories he shared with us and the impact he made on our lives. He will forever be remembered for his kind heart, contagious laughter, and unwavering love for his family and friends.

His memory will also be cherished by his adoring granddaughter Jolie Grace Harbour. Additionally, Mike is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever treasure the time they spent with him.
