Melba Chautin

Opelousas- A funeral service will be held for Melba Juanita Chautin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, in Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Pastor Benny Reppond will conduct the service. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Mrs. Chautin, age 72, a resident of Church Point and native of Opelousas, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center with her loved ones at her side.

Mrs. Chautin delivered the Morning Advocate in Opelousas for over 30 years and was affectionately known as the “paper lady”. She enjoyed bowling and was an avid pool player. Mrs. Chautin will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter, Trudy Barras and husband, Duke of St. Rose and Sonia Chautin of Baton Rouge; son, Travis Chautin of Opelousas; sisters, Renee Wood and husband, Willie Baxter of Cleveland, TN and Effie Hayes of Cullman, AL; grandchildren, Kameron Roberts, Nevaeh Chelette and Keitha Lavergne.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Furray Chautin; parents, Thomas F. Call and Vera Lafayette Call; brother, Thomas E. Call; grandchild, Raven Roberts; and brother-in-law, Luke Hayes.
