Maxine Pitre

Opelousas-- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Maxine Pitre on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Burial will follow in the St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau. A visitation will be held in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas on Saturday, November 30, 2024, form 8:30 a.m. until time of Mass. A Rosary will be prayed in the funeral home chapel at 10:00 a.m.

Maxine Pitre, more often called "Macki" a beloved figure in her community and a cherished matriarch of her family, passed away on November 22, 2024 at Senior Village Nursing Home. She was born on May 16, 1942, Lawtell, Louisiana, where she developed deep roots that would foster her lifelong connections with family and friends.

As the owner and operator of a dress shop called Macki's Fashions, Maxine demonstrated not only her entrepreneurial spirit but also her eye for fashion, bringing a touch of style to those around her. Beyond her professional life, she was known for her loving nature. Maxine's warmth and kindness were felt by everyone she encountered, especially by her family, whom she loved to the fullest.

Maxine is survived by her two daughters, Christine Pitre Castillo (Tony) of Arnaudville and Stephanie Pitre Higgins (Steven) of Plano, Texas. She took great pride in her nieces and nephews, who brought immense joy to her life: Jed Reviere (Cindy Hidalgo) along with their daughters,  Lauren Reviere Turner (Austin), Dr. Adrienne Reviere Harst (Chance) and Leslie Reviere Ott (Zachary). Kelly Vinable Carroll (Bryant) and her sons, Bryant and Robert, Kim Vinable Thompson (Jamie) and her sons, Brennen and Kaden.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ray Pitre, who held a special place in her heart. She is also reunited with her parents, Robert and Emeree Venable, along with her sister, Jean Venable Reviere and her husband, Jerry Reviere, her brother, Robert Venable, Jr. and his wife, Catherine Latchalais Venable.

Maxine Pitre will be remembered not only for her contributions to her community through her business but also for the profound love she shared with her family. Her legacy of compassion and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew her.
