Mary Lois Glasscock Boagni

OPELOUSAS- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mary Lois Glasscock Boagni on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. MSGR. Keith DeRouen will celebrate the mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. 

Mary Lois Glasscock Boagni, born on November 12, 1937, in the historic town of Opelousas, she entered into eternal rest on May 3, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family and friends at her residence.

Lois was a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and spent her career working with adoptive parents, families, and children. Some of her favorite years were spent working as a college counselor with the girls at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau.

Lois was Life Master of Duplicate Bridge and played alongside her husband, Ken, throughout most of her lifetime making many friends along the way. For many that knew her, she was known to be a competitive tennis player and enjoyed watching any sport when she had the chance. 

She passed down her love for cooking and entertaining to all of her children and enjoyed time best spent with the love of her life, her husband who could be found by her side while she enjoyed doing her favorite things.

Lois is survived by her husband of 61 years, Judge Kenneth Boagni, Jr. of Opelousas; son, Kenneth Boagni III and wife Alyshia of Opelousas; daughters, Mary Helen “Mellie” Boagni of Little Rock, AR, Lois Anne Boagni-Dow and husband Don of Philadelphia, Leslie Renee Boagni of Carencro, Patricia Cecile “CeCi” Thomassie and husband Tommy of Park City, UT; sister, Blanche Bourdier; 10 grandchildren, Lillie Watson, Camille Watson, Eloise Boagni, Mary Charlotte Boagni, Hayden Boagni, Ethan Boagni, Gabe Boagni, Sophie Dow, Jane Thomassie and Milly Thomassie.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Seeman George Glasscock, Sr. and Mary Lola Bush Glasscock; her brothers, Seeman George Glasscock, Jr., Charles Wilfred Glasscock and Carol Glasscock; and her grandson, Andrew Dow. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 10:30 AM until 1:30 PM in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. 

Pallbearers will be Gabe Boagni, Hayden Boagni, Kenneth Boagni III, Don Dow, Tommy Thomassie and Andy Boagni. Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Boagni and Leslie Schiff. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to those who were an integral part of Mrs. Lois's care team, her nurse, Cicely Stelly with Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, her caretakers, Fannie Auzenne, Laura Morgan and Gloria Guillory. Their love and devotion to Mrs. Lois during her time of need were so greatly appreciated.
