Opelousas- A funeral service for, Mary Nell Dunnavant, age 89, will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Pastor Dr. Jack Hetzel will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Nell passed peacefully from this world into the next on Wednesday, September 13th. She was surrounded by family and prayers.

Nell was one of a kind - a thoughtful, joyful, Jesus loving woman who always thought of others before herself. Over the years she enjoyed many things - baking, crocheting, and traveling to name a few - but none of these could compare to the time spent with her family and the deep love she held for them. Nell never missed a chance to visit her children and grandkids even in her later years when driving became a little more difficult and each family member became a little more spread out. Oh the pride she took in watching her little tribe flourish & grow! But don't let that fool you, Nell did make some time for herself too. If you knew her, then you knew just how much she enjoyed shopping & getting all dolled up. And you also know her pantsuits were always on point!

Nell had a special gift when it came to people - she made all of her friends feel like family and all of her family feel like favorites. She will be deeply missed by each of us who loved her so.

She is survived by her son, Billy Ray Dunnavant and wife, Gail of Magnolia, TX; daughter, Debbie Pry and husband, Craig of Blytheville, AR; sister, Peggy LaForce of Big Sandy, TX; grandchildren, Melissa Moore and husband, Bill of Spring, TX, Dawn Flores and husband, Justin of Big Sandy, TX, Ashley Walker and husband, Wes of Washington, LA, Tyler Briscoe and wife, Amanda of Opelousas, LA and Camryn Pry of Blytheville, Arkansas. She is also survived by 11 great- grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William Dunnavant; daughter, Mary Ann Duhon; parents, Clyde and Fannie Roberts; grandson, Jared Duhon; brother, Jinx Roberts; and sisters, Adaline Howard and Willie Davis.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow.

Pallbearers will be Craig Pry, Bill Moore, Wes Walker, Larry LaForce, Rex Rozell and Tyler Briscoe. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Davis and Steve LaForce.
