Martin Leger, Sr.

Leonville- A Celebration of Life will be held for Mr. Martin Leger, Sr. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. Inurnment will follow the celebration of life at the St. Leo Cemetery in Leonville. 

Martin Leger, Sr. was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who touched the lives of many with his warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit. Born on January 29, 1947, in Port Barre, LA, Martin's journey came to a peaceful end on April 5, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.

Throughout his life, Martin found joy in simple pleasures and cherished moments spent outdoors. His love for camping, rabbit hunting, fishing, and cooking brought him closer to nature and those around him. Whether he was by the campfire sharing stories or reeling in a big catch by the river, Martin's passion for the outdoors was truly infectious.

Martin's legacy of love and laughter will live on through his surviving sons, Martin Leger, Jr. and wife Carla, Brent Russell Leger and wife Marcy, Chris Leger and wife Donna; brother, Lee Roy Leger; sister, Leona Leger, Hester Marie Comeaux; 13 grandchildren, Nicholas Leger, Cody Leger, Jamie Leger, Hunter Leger, Taylor Lavergne, Matthew Leger, Catherine Leger, Chaz Leger, Mallory Duplichain, Sarah Moran, Andrew Leger, Christian Leger and Jaylyn Guidroz.

Martin is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Leger and Hester Dupre Leger; his wives, Judy Ann Leger and Cynthia Leger; his brothers, Eddie Leger, Jr. and Lawrence Leger; and his sisters, Jane Vidrine, Pearl Deville and Neva Vidrine. 

May we find solace in the beautiful memories we shared with Martin Leger Sr., knowing that he is now at peace in a better place. Goodbye for now dear friend; your memory will forever be a blessing to us all.
