Mark Anthony Savoie, born on February 26, 1959, in the heart of Opelousas, Louisiana, embarked on his journey through life with a spirit marked by passion and purpose. He departed from this world on February 8, 2026, leaving behind a legacy that resonates deeply within the communities he touched and the lives he transformed.
For over a decade, Mark proudly co-owned Nurses Direct of Lafayette, a testament to his dedication to the nursing profession and his unwavering commitment to compassionate care. His journey in nurse staffing was not merely a career; it was his calling, a vocation he embraced with openness and heart. But beyond the realm of nursing, Mark's voice echoed through the airwaves as a beloved radio announcer at KSLO in the 70’s. Those who tuned in found solace and joy in his charismatic presence, as he filled the air with warmth and camaraderie on the brightest of days.
Mark was a man of diverse interests and skills, blending both art and precision in the workshops of his life. He found serenity and creativity in woodworking, crafting pieces that would serve as lasting reminders of his meticulous nature. The roar of his motorcycle was music to his ears; each ride was not just a journey from one place to another, but a release and a thrill. His passion for collecting—whether it be firearms that told stories of history or coins that represented different eras—was a reflection of his curiosity and appreciation for the past.
Mark is survived by his wife of of 48 ½ years, Darla Deshotel Savoie; sons, Joshua Savoie of Lafayette, Alex Savoie (Heather) of Broussard, Stefan Savoie (Emily) of Baton Rouge; daughters, Kristi Savoie Reedy (James) of Sugarland, TX and Elyse Savoie of Youngsville; brothers, Ty Bihm (Melanie), Randy Bihm and Ricky Bihm (Jeane); sister, Debbie Billiodeaux (Tom); 3 grandchildren, Emily Reedy, Naomi Reedy and Liam Savoie.
Mark is preceded in death by his mother, Lilly Bihm; father, Newton Bihm; biological father, Marion Savoie; brothers, Jay Savoie and Timothy Savoie, Sr.; and sister-in-law, Lorraine Bihm.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. Visitation will resume on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11: 00 a.m. in the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Savoie, Alex Savoie, Stefan Savoie and Matthew Billodeaux.
