Opelousas-- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Marilyn Trahan at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2025, in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Fr. Clint Trahan will officiate the Mass. Burial will follow in the Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Opelousas.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. with a all night wake until the of Mass on Monday at 2:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed in the funeral home chapel at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday evening.

Marilyn, a beloved resident of Opelousas, Louisiana, passed away on July 16, 2025. She was born on November 18, 1951, in Leonville, Louisiana, and lived a life marked by her warm spirit and love for family.

Marilyn was cherished by all who knew her. She was very friendly and had a remarkable ability to connect with people, establishing deep and lasting relationships throughout her life. Her family and grandchildren were the heart of her existence, and she loved them with all her being. Marilyn took immense joy in spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Norma Trahan and her companion (Lonnie Lopez) of Opelousas, and Kathy Arnaud (Randy) of Arnaudville, sister, Ruby Barron of New Mexico, The joy of her life continued with her daughter Norma and grandchildren: Mindy Nicole Fontenot and her husband Mike of Port Barre, Mary Delores Norris of Lake Charles, Blake Courville (Emylee Boudreaux) of Abbeville, Amber Arnaud of Arnaudville, and Brianna Courville (Travis Guilbeau) of Youngsville. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren, including Makenzi, Tylen, and Ezra, lovingly referred to as "Tator Tot," who brought her endless joy, and 5 others.

Marilyn had numerous hobbies and interests, including her love for Casino, candy, and yard work. Her vibrant personality and passion for life left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Wilson Trahan, Jr., as well as her parents, Albert and Sedonia Lavergne. Marilyn was also preceded in death by her son, Rex Norris, Jr., and her sisters Shirley Beard, Mary Ollie Pourcian, Mary Alice Bihm, Suzanne Guilbeau, and Sybil Schexander, and five others, each of whom she held dear to her heart.

Marilyn Trahan will be remembered fondly for her loving nature, infectious spirit, and the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on through her family and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
