Marguerite, a resident of Opelousas, entered into eternal rest at the age 94, on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at Opelousas General Health System surrounded by her loving family.
Marguerite was born in Opelousas in 1928. Marguerite was a graduate of Opelousas High in 1946 and worked as a dental assistant from 1946 to 1951. During this time she met the love of her life, Dr. Glen W. Hunt (Honey), who she married in 1951. They were married for 66 beautiful years until his death in 2017. She was a life member of the American Veterinarian Medical Association Auxiliary, Louisiana Veterinarian Medical Association Auxiliary, Elks Auxiliary, Our Lady Queen of Angels Alter Society, American Legion Auxiliary, Pink Ladies and Opelousas Garden Club.
Marguerite was best known for her great cooking, devotion to family and friends (especially devoted to her husband “Honey”), helping and feeding others in need and worrying about everyone dear to her. She sometimes even cooked breakfast for the milkman in the morning. She loved to talk and was always kind and encouraging. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Pinching the children’s cheeks and giving themkisses and hugs will be deeply missed. Marguerite also loved to fish and hold hands with her loving husband “Honey” while going anywhere he wanted to go.
We want to thank Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Facility for the loving care given to her from the staff and Catholic nuns. She especially enjoyed all the attention given to her from the physical therapy department. Her private special day-help sitters were Chereva Green Celestine, Charlene Tezano Brown and Anne Green. We are also grateful to Julie Dejean Marks, who is like a daughter, also helped early in her journey at Prompt Succor. Marguerite loved them all so much. They gave her extra attention to keep her happy, healthy and beautiful 7 days a week.
