Lucille Reiners

Washington – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Lucille Gossen Reiners on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington. Fr. Matthew Higginbotham will celebrate the Mass. Rite of committal will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Mowata, LA.

Lucille, age 93, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Folsom, LA.

Lucille received her teaching degree from Sacred Heart College in Grand Coteau. Over the years she taught children from Iota and Rayne High School and AIC and Opelousas Catholic until her retirement. She enjoyed collecting antiques, especially depression glass. Lucille was a voracious reader and learner up until her death. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Lucille is survived by her children, Wayne Reiners (Faye) of Opelousas, Carolyn Reiners Bubrig (Rick) of Folsom, Mark Reiners (Sandy) of Opelousas, Becky Reiners Savoie (Don) of Baton Rouge and Karl Reiners (Judy) of Washington; sisters, Helen Arsement (Clarence) of Rayne and Catherine Cramer of Opelousas; grandchildren, Stephanie, Kristy, Daniel, Susan, Nicholas, Rebecca, Nichole, Eric, Lucas, Stacey, Renee and Meghan; 20 great-grandchildren; and special cousin, Tim Gossen.

Lucille is preceded in death by her husband, Alois Reiners; parents, N.J. Gossen and Marie Bollich Gossen; brothers, Raymond Gossen and Robert Gossen; sisters, Edna Plattsmier and Antoinette Puissegur.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. by Deacon Dwayne Joubert. Visitation will resume on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
