Port Barre-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Lucas Paul Doucet on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 1:00 pm in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Fr. Clint Trahan will officiate the Mass. Readers will be Desiree Wheaton, and Dawn Doucet. Gift Barterers will be Lucy Dean, Lane Duplechain, and Colton Hardy. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held AT SIBILLE FUNERAL HOME IN OPELOUSAS, on Saturday, June 20, 2026 beginning at 9:00 am, a Rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am. Visitation will continue till 12:30 pm.
Lucas, a cherished young soul whose brief life was marked by kindness, love, and remarkable achievements, passed away peacefully at his home in Port Barre on June 18, 2026. Born on November 9, 2011, in Opelousas, Louisiana, Lucas was a beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend who touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Lucas graduated from the 8th grade at Port Barre High School on May 18, 2026, a milestone that highlighted his dedication and pride in his academic and extracurricular endeavors. He was known for his loving and kind nature; everyone who crossed his path was drawn to his warmth and gentle spirit.
An avid sportsman and outdoors enthusiast, Lucas found joy in playing football for Port Barre, showcasing his skill and commitment on the field. He was also a proud member of the Port Barre 14 U Pony All Stars baseball team, where he displayed teamwork and passion. Beyond athletics, Lucas expressed his musical talents as a bass drum player in the Port Barre Middle School Band, an accomplishment that brought him much pride and happiness.
Lucas’s hobbies included hunting and fishing, activities that connected him with nature and provided moments of peace and camaraderie. His vibrant personality and interests made him a well-rounded young man deeply appreciated by his family, friends, and community.
He is survived by his devoted parents, Galen and Cassidy Doucet of Port Barre; and Tracie Wheaton, and James Gonzales of Torbert, Louisiana; and his beloved siblings Wyatt and Anthony Gonzales of Torbert, and sisters Finlee, Weslyn, and Rosalie Doucet. Lucas was also cherished by his paternal grandparents, Jessieand Kim Doucet of Port Barre and Lora and Kim Guidry of Krotz Springs, as well as his paternal great-grandfather Wayne Stanford of Port Barre. His extended family includes aunts and uncles Kendalyn and Dustin Sanders of Krotz Springs; Andrew and Julie Wheaton of Waxia; Desiree Wheaton of Port Barre; Louis Gonzales; Kristy and Lee Jewell; and Deanna and Johnathan Fourroux, all of Livonia; Ashley Blanchard and Jacob Bordelon of Palmetto; Reba Blanchard of Carencro; Shelby and Forest Johnson of Pierre Part; and Holly and Steven Ledoux of Washington, along with numerous cousins and friends who held him dear.
Lucas was preceded in death by his paternal great-parents, Geneva Stanford; Weston and Red Doucet; his maternal grandfather, James (Andy) Wheaton, Jr.; and maternal great-grandparents, Bill and Verval Wheaton and Lucas and Mildred Hardy, whose memories live on in the hearts of those who loved them.
Though his time with us was too short, Lucas Paul Doucet’s legacy of kindness, enthusiasm, and love remains an enduring light. His memory will forever inspire those who had the privilege to know him, reminding us all of the beauty found in a life well-lived and a heart deeply loved. Lucas will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit will continue to live on in the lives he touched so deeply.
Pallbearers will be Cohen Dean, Andrew Wheaton, Logan LeDoux, Cole Lanclos, Gregory Hardy, and Levan Doucet.
